It would feel strange to play WA in Champions League: Hussey

Sydney, Jun 11 (UNI) Chennai Super Kings batsman Micheal Hussey has said it will feel 'strange' to play against his home state Western Australia in the inaugural Champions League.

''It would be strange coming up against (Western Australia),'' Hussey was quoted as saying by the local media. ''It's hard I guess because I'm a Western Australia boy, born and bred, so if I'm playing in a competition I'd probably prefer to play for Western Australia.'' ''My understanding was that I thought we had to play for Western Australia if this situation arose. So that's all I knew. So to hear something different seems a bit strange to me. But obviously if that's the rules, that's the rules,'' he added.

IPL teams get first priority over players, which creates a potential scope of conflict between the Chennai Super Kings and Western Australia, with both teams having Hussey on their books and both having qualified for the Champions League.

But Hussey said he would be ''more than happy'' to play for the Super Kings in the international Twenty20 tournament.

'''My No 1 preference would be to play for Western Australia, but I'm more than happy to play for Chennai as well,'' he remarked.

But the 33-year-old left-arm opener appears to have been saved a difficult decision regarding which team to represent with Australia's international commitments in September and October likely to exclude him from the inaugural Champions League.

Immediately after the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in September, Australia are due to visit India for a four-Test series in October.
