'It's time to make amends': Pat Cummins looking for retribution against India as Border-Gavaskar Trophy nears

By MyKhel Staff

India's visit to down under in Australia is still a couple of months away, but the heat of the crucial Test series has started to gain pace.

Rohit Sharma and his troops will collide in a five-match Test series against Australia which will start in November. The first match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy is in Perth and starts on November 22, while the final match will commence in Sydney at the turn of the year.

Australia have had a dismal outing against India in the Test format in recent times. The Indian team won the last four Test series against Australia, and two of them were in Australia. India have won by the margin of 2-1 in the last four Test series, but this one will be the first series since 1992 when the two teams will play five Test matches.

With an elusive hat-trick of Test series wins on the cards for India, the Australian team will be desperate to halt the visitors. Australia's Test captain Pat Cummins gave his thoughts about the encounter to Star Sports, where he admitted their shortcomings but also affirmed the will to 'make amends'.

"The last two series here in Australia, we haven't been successful, so it's been a long time. Hopefully, it's time to make amends. You know, we've played them plenty of times where they've beaten us, but we've also had plenty of wins against them as well, which we'll draw confidence from," Cummins said to Star Sports.

Despite losing the bilateral series serially, Australia managed to clinch the crucial WTC Final against the Indian team last June. Cummins, who is massive excited for the Border-Gavaskar trophy, says the competitiveness of the clashes against India makes the matches always on the edge and feels like a 50-50 duel.

"The most recent Test match was, of course, the World Test Championship in neutral conditions, and we came out on top in that match. It's always fiercely competitive, and it always feels like it's 50-50. I'm 10 out of 10 excited for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy," the Australia captain added.
