Virat Kohli was brutally trolled after getting out for a nine-ball duck against New Zealand in the first innings of the first Test against Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The star batter walked in to bat at three in the absence of unwell Shubman Gill, but fell prey to New Zealand pacer William ORourke. The delivery nipped back in with a good bounce as Kohli got on his toes to defend. However, the ball kissed his gloves before landing into the hands of Glenn Phillips, who picked a brilliant forward-diving catch at leg gully.

Another low score from Virat Kohli did not go well with the fans, who were eagerly waiting for a stellar show from the former India captain at his 'adopted' home ground. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter had walked in to bat amid a loud cheer from the fans at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

The 35-year-old failed to score a fifty in the preceding two-Test series against Bangladesh. Kohli has gone without scoring a fifty-plus score in his last seven Test innings.

The onus was on the right-hand batter to take the onus on him and take India out through the difficult opening session. The first hour of play after India opted to bat first saw New Zealand reduce the hosts to 13.3 in 13.4 overs before rain stopped play. No boundaries came during the period as Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Sarfaraz Khan were sent packing by the New Zealand pacers.
