James Anderson on Saturday, March 9 became the first pacer in history to pick 700 Test wickets. The 41-year-old England veteran picked the wicket of Kuldeep Yadav on Day 3 of the fifth and final Test match in Dharamsala to achieve the feat.
Anderson had 690 wickets from 183 Test matches before the start of the five-Test series against India. He did not play in the first Test in Hyderabad, but went on to feature in the next four Tests. After the end of India's first innings in Dharamsala, Anderson has 10 wickets at an average of 33.50 in the series.

Anderson picked two wickets in the first innings as India ended their first innings at 477, taking a massive 259-run lead. Even though India dominated England once again, Anderson's feat to become only the third bowler to pick 700 Test wickets gave visitors the rare opportunity to celebrate.
Cricket fraternity and fans doffed their hats to the longevity and perseverance of James Anderson. Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Michael Vaughan, Pragyan Ojha were few of the first ones to react.
England's struggle continued in the second innings as well. Ravichandran Ashwin, who is playing his 100th Test and completed his 500 Test wickets in the third Test, picked a five-fer as England were reduced to 113/6. By the time this article was published, India were just two wickets away from an innings win in the match, and 4-1 victory in the series.
