Jamir, Deshmukh congratulate Tendulkar

Mumbai, Oct 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir has congratulated Indian batting sensation Sachin Tendulkar for becoming the highest scorer in Test Cricket by surpassing West Indian great Brian Lara in the second test match against Australia, which is currently underway at Mohali.

In a congratulatory message, Mr Jamir said ''Cricket fans the world over are overjoyed by your impressive feat of scoring highest runs in Test Cricket. You have already joined the galaxy of all time great players in both, the Test and One-day format of cricket and the latest achievement is a feather in your cap.'' ''On behalf of the people of Maharashtra, I congratulate you on reaching this very significant milestone and hope that you will continue to scale newer peaks of success in your future cricketing career,'' he added.

Chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh also congratulated Maharashtra Bhushan awardee Sachin Tendulkar for his achievement and expected him to make more new records in the cricket.
