Jane McGrath's last words to family

By Staff

Melbourne, July 29 : The late Jane McGrath, wife of Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath, has the last word in her husband's new biography being released on Friday.

Written by Glenn McGrath with a Sydney journalist, "Glenn McGrath: Line and Strength" was printed before Jane's death last month, the Daily Telegraph reported.

In the book's final pages, the mother of two praises Glenn for putting his career on hold to be with her and their children James and Holly.

Jane also says she dreams of growing old and watching James and Holly grow up.

"As for his legacy to cricket, well, he was a great bowler - some say the best fast bowler ever, and that says a lot. What I will say is that Glenn is a champion. He's my champion," she says.

The bush cricketer from Narromine, NSW, who retired from international cricket with 563 Test wickets, plays down his sporting triumphs.

He says the couple's greatest achievement has been Holly and James, adding that "my life is dedicated to ensuring their happiness."

Publisher Random House Australia is donating two per cent of the 49.95 dollars cover price of "Glenn McGrath: Line and Strength" to the McGrath Foundation, which funds breast cancer care.
