Jason Holder ‘has taken GT to another level’: Pujara highlights all-round impact after PBKS win

Gujarat Titans' recent surge in IPL 2026 has been built on balance as much as brilliance, and according to Cheteshwar Pujara, one player has quietly redefined that balance - Jason Holder.

Speaking on JioStar, Pujara pointed to Holder's all-round influence as a key factor behind Gujarat Titans' four-wicket win over Punjab Kings, suggesting his presence has elevated the team beyond just individual performances.

Jason Holder

"The way Jason Holder has made an impact on this team, both with the bat and the ball, has been impressive. He contributed to key wickets, including the important dismissal of Shreyas Iyer. Overall, his presence has taken the team to a different level. GT had some concerns around the middle-order batting, and his flexibility to bat at No. 5, 6, or 7 adds great balance to the side."

Holder's value, as Pujara underlined, goes beyond numbers. His ability to slot in across roles - whether stabilising the middle order or breaking partnerships with the ball - has addressed one of GT's biggest concerns this season: depth.

That sense of composure under pressure was also visible earlier in the day, as Kolkata Knight Riders secured a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, powered by a controlled innings from Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

"It was a clinical performance overall. While others contributed, Angkrish played a crucial role in the chase. His 59 off 47 balls provided the stability that was needed. He showed great calmness and composure, playing the role of an anchor perfectly. With consistent contributions like this, KKR look to be in good form."

As the league stage intensifies, attention now shifts to the evening clash between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants - a fixture defined less by momentum and more by urgency.

"Mumbai Indians have faced several challenges this season, and there is a strong need for a comeback, for the fans, the team's pride, and for the players who have worked hard. When you are such a big team, expectations are high, and they will be keen to respond. At the same time, Lucknow Super Giants have also had their share of issues. So, both teams will be playing for pride, regardless of their playoff chances."

With Gujarat Titans finding their rhythm and other teams fighting to stay alive, the IPL 2026 season is beginning to separate those with balance from those still searching for it - and if Pujara's assessment is anything to go by, Holder might just be the difference.
