Jason Roy pulled off the IPL 2024 as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) named Phil Salt as his replacement on Sunday, March 10. Roy was retained by KKR ahead of the IPL 2024 season. The England opener had joined the KKR squad as an injury replacement for Bangladesh star Shakin Al Hasan.
The England opener was signed by KKR at his base price of Rs 1.5 crore. Roy, who forfeited his ECB central contract last year, is currently playing for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.

Despite playing just eight matches, Jason Roy had scored the fourth-highest run for KKR in the 2023 edition. He scored 285 runs at an average of 35.62 and a strike rate of 151.59.
Roy had pulled out of the IPL 2022 as well after being picked by Gujarat Titans (GT) in the mega auction. The reason why the 33-year-old pulled out of the upcoming season is unknown.
Phil Salt, played nine matches for Delhi Capitals (DC) and scored 218 runs at an average of 27.25 and a strike rate of 163.9.
Salt was part of Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 2024 where he scored scored just 116 runs in 10 matches at an average of 12.88 and a strike rate of 143.2. Overall, he has featured in 228 T20 matches and scored 5308 runs at an average of 25.89 and a strike rate of 153.41.
