By MyKhel Staff

Jasprit Bumrah has etched his name in the record books by achieving the joint-highest rating points ever attained by a Test bowler from India in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings.

The Indian speedster has been a lethal performer in the ongoing Test series against Australia and has now achieved a rating which was only matched by Ravichandran Ashwin once.

Jasprit Bumrah attains joint-highest Test Ratings

Bumrah's stellar performance in the third match of the ICC World Test Championship series against Australia in Melbourne saw him claim nine wickets for 94 runs, elevating his rating to an incredible 904 points. This milestone equals the rating achieved by India's ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in December 2016 after the fourth Test against England in Mumbai.

Bumrah's consistent brilliance has been pivotal in India's dominance over Australia in the series. With 21 wickets to his name so far, he has established a commanding 48-point lead over his closest competitors in the rankings. South Africa's Kagiso Rabada (856 points) and Australia's Josh Hazlewood (852 points) currently occupy the second and third positions in the list.

Apart from Bumrah, India pacer Mohammad Siraj has also made steady progress, climbing one spot to secure the 24th position in the Test Bowling Rankings. Siraj has been an effective support bowler for India and continues to grow in stature on the international stage.

Batters Shine in Latest Rankings Update

While bowlers made headlines, the ICC Test Batting Rankings also saw significant movements. Australia's Travis Head rose to fourth place following a scintillating knock of 152 in the first innings against India. Steve Smith's century (101) has brought him back into the top 10, and Alex Carey's solid performances (70 and 20*) have propelled him to 29th place. On the Indian side, KL Rahul's return to form with the bat has seen him climb 10 spots to 40th, while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja moved up nine places to 42nd.

Notable ODI Performers: Ayub and Klaasen Shine

In the ICC Men's ODI Bowling Rankings, there were significant gains for players from the South Africa-Pakistan series. Pakistan's Saim Ayub, who was named Player of the Series for his remarkable scores of 109, 25, and 101, vaulted 57 slots to a career-best 23rd position in the batting rankings. South Africa's Heinrich Klaasen also returned to the top five with consistent scores of 86, 97, and 81.

On the bowling front, South Africa's Kagiso Rabada climbed two places to 19th, while Marco Jansen rose six spots to 35th. Pakistan's Naseem Shah also made notable progress, jumping 10 places to 51st. Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai moved up in the ODI rankings after their team's 2-0 series win against Zimbabwe.
