Jasprit Bumrah, who sustained a back injury during the Sydney Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, recently completed a five-week rest period, which included a complete break from any physical activity, including gym work.
He has now entered the rehabilitation phase at the CoE, where experts are closely monitoring his recovery.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has formed a dedicated three-member team at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru to oversee the rehabilitation of the vice-captain as he races against time to regain fitness for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
According to PTI, strength and conditioning coach Rajnikanth Sivagnanam, physiotherapist Thulasi Ram Yuvraj, and Head of Sports Science Dr. Nitin Patel are supervising Bumrah's rehab. Patel, in particular, is personally overseeing the entire process, while India's national team S&C coach Soham Desai and physio Kamlesh Jain are being kept updated on his progress.
However, since Desai is currently traveling with the Indian team for the ongoing ODI series against England, he is not directly involved in Bumrah's rehabilitation at the moment.
As per CoE protocols, each player undergoing rehabilitation is assigned a dedicated strength and conditioning coach, a physiotherapist, and a specialist coach to oversee skill-based aspects of their recovery. Once Bumrah is cleared to resume bowling, CoE's fast-bowling coach Troy Cooley will take charge of monitoring his workload and progress.
The final medical report regarding Bumrah's availability for the Champions Trophy will be submitted by Dr. Patel to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar.
With the February 11 deadline for finalizing the Champions Trophy squad approaching, the BCCI is expected to take a late call on Bumrah's participation. However, even after the deadline, teams are allowed to make injury replacements during the tournament, giving India some flexibility in their decision-making.
With Bumrah's fitness being a crucial factor in India's Champions Trophy campaign, all eyes will be on the BCCI's final decision regarding the pace spearhead's availability for the marquee tournament.
