Jasprit Bumrah is still undergoing rehabilitation for a back issue at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, formerly the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in Bengaluru, leaving the Mumbai Indians (MI) waiting on the availability of the star pacer for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).
Bumrah picked up the back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy final Test in Sydney earlier this year, and has since been ruled out of action, including the Champions Trophy 2025, which India won by beating New Zealand last week.

The 31-year-old pacer was included in the Indian Champions Trophy preliminary squad, but was ruled out weeks ahead of the tournament after not being medically cleared to return to action. This also has put question marks over his availability for the IPL 2025.
Although he is set to miss part of the tournament, Bumrah, Mumbai Indians' most expensive player, is likely to be involved later in the season with reports revealing his possible return date, which is once again subject to medical clearance.
While there is no definitive date, a recent report from ESPNcricinfo has revealed that the pacer is set to miss the first few matches of the IPL 2025 season, which kicks off on March 22 with Mumbai Indians playing their first match on March 23 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai.
Jasprit Bumrah Injury Update: The report, which is similar to a Times of India (TOI) update earlier this month, suggests that Bumrah is expected to join the Mumbai Indians squad by early April, meaning the Indian ace pacer could miss at least three to four matches.
After opeing their campaign against CSK, Mumbai Indians then play Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on March 29 before their first home match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 31.
Even if he is cleared to join the camp, Mumbai Indians may use caution. So, Bumrah might miss more matches. MI play two matches in the first week of April, starting with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow on April 4 followed by a home fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 7.
Mumbai Indians would have hoped to start the season with their best bowling attack spearheaded by Bumrah and the returning Trent Boult, who was bought back in the IPL mega auction last year. The five-time champions also have Deepak Chahar in their squad to temporarily cope with any Bumrah absence.
