Jasprit Bumrah injury update: Team India skipper Rohit Sharma opened up on the star pacer's injury ahead of the ODI series against England, saying that the team management is waiting on some update about the bowler's medical scans.
The 31-year-old pacer suffered an injury in the fifth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia at Sydney. Bumrah, who left the field mid-way through the first innings, didn't bowl a single delivery for the remainder of the Sydney Test as he went for scans for a reported back issue.

Following the advice from the medical experts, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided the Indian spearhead should rest for at least five weeks and post that he will undergo another scan.
Despite the injury, Team India selection committee had named Bumrah in the ODI squad to face England and the subsequent Champions Trophy with the pacer possibly returning to action from the final match of the series against England.
However, there is still no clarity over his return to action and his fitness. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Rohit provided an update on the same, saying that Bumrah's scans are due to take place in the upcoming days.
"Jasprit, obviously we're waiting on some update about his scan, which is due to happen in the next few days," Rohit was quoted by ICC as saying when asked about an update on Bumrah's availability for the series.
The skipper further added that the Indian team management will have more clarity regarding Bumrah's participation in the final ODI match against England based on the results from the scans.
"We're just waiting on that update, which is going to happen in the next few days, the scan. Then, probably we'll have a little more clarity about his participation in the last ODI," he added.
Bumrah was the leading-wicket-taker in international cricket last year, with 86 wickets in 21 matches at an average of 13.76, with four four-wicket hauls and five five-wicket hauls and best figures of 6/45.
With the Champions Trophy 2025 fast-approaching, Bumrah's fitness will be key for India's chances of winning another ICC tournament. Team India have also included Mohammed Shami, who is also returning to international action after a long injury lay-off.
The eight-team ICC tournament will be played across Pakistan and UAE with India playing its matches in Dubai under a hybrid model. India open their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 before the much-anticipated clash against Pakistan on February 23, and the final group stage match against New Zealand on March 2.
Before the Champions Trophy, India will square off against England in three ODI series beginning in Nagpur on Thursday (February 6). The 50-over action will then move to Cuttack on Sunday (February 9) and the series will conclude on February 12 in Ahmedabad.
