India's Jasprit Bumrah has added another accolade to his illustrious career by winning the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year 2024. This prestigious award recognises the most outstanding male cricketer across all international formats in a calendar year.
Bumrah emerged victorious from a competitive field of nominees. His achievement marks the first time an Indian has won the award since Virat Kohli in 2018. The 31-year-old pacer enjoyed a stellar year, topping the wicket charts in Tests.

He played a pivotal role in India's triumph at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, held in the West Indies and the USA. In Test cricket, Bumrah delivered a career-best performance, claiming 71 wickets at an extraordinary average of 14.92-19 more wickets than any other bowler in 2024.
His dominance was evident in key series against South Africa, England, and Bangladesh. He capped the year by emerging as the leading wicket-taker in the thrilling Border-Gavaskar series in Australia. Bumrah's brilliance extended to white-ball cricket as he spearheaded India's victorious T20 World Cup campaign.
With 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and a miserly economy rate of 4.17, he was instrumental in India's success. Bumrah's lethal spells helped India secure crucial wins against teams like Ireland, Pakistan, and England.
In the final against South Africa, he produced a match-winning performance, taking 2/18 to seal India's first ICC title in 11 years. Bumrah joins an elite group of Indian cricketers, including Kohli (2018), R Ashwin (2016), and Rahul Dravid (2004).
All of them have previously won both the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year and ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year awards in the same year. Expressing his gratitude, Bumrah said, "This award is a testament to the power of hard work and dreams."
He added, "I dedicate it to India, my family, and my teammates. Winning the T20 World Cup and contributing across formats made 2024 truly special." The ICC Voting Academy and global fans, who cast over 1.5 million votes, played a key role in selecting the winners across 12 categories.
