Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Mayank Yadav is set to return to IPL action in 2026 after injury setbacks, with the young pacer revealing how surgery and guidance from Jasprit Bumrah played a crucial role in reshaping his approach to the game.
Mayank, who grabbed headlines with his raw pace during his breakthrough IPL season two years ago, spoke about his recovery journey and evolution as a fast bowler while appearing on JioStar's 'IPL Today Live'.

The tearaway seamer highlighted how his fitness discipline changed significantly after undergoing surgery, a phase that proved to be a turning point in his career.
Reflecting on his recovery journey, Mayank admitted that he did not prioritise recovery routines earlier in his career but has since developed a more disciplined approach.
"Everything has changed for me post-surgery. Earlier, I never used to take care of myself. Whenever I had to do a recovery session, I used to avoid it and neglect many aspects. But after the surgery, I paid a lot of attention to recovery, nutrition and sleep. The more I respect my body, the more my body respects me on the field." - Mayank Yadav, speaking on JioStar.
He also explained that his high-speed bowling ability was recognised only after entering professional cricket and training environments.
"I will not say that the high speed in my bowling was always there. Now a lot of people say that Mayank Yadav is a wonder kid with natural talent. It feels nice. But I was not a wonder kid from the very start." - Mayank Yadav, speaking on JioStar.
Mayank also credited Jasprit Bumrah for mentoring him during rehabilitation, describing the senior pacer as a guiding figure during recovery.
"When I was in rehab at the NCA, Bumrah bhaiya was also there. So I have a very good bonding with him. He is like a teacher to me." - Mayank Yadav, speaking on JioStar.
"He also had the same surgery, the same scenario. Bumrah bhaiya shared his experience of how to come back after surgery and what things to pay attention to." - Mayank Yadav, speaking on JioStar.
With IPL 2026 set to begin on March 28, Mayank Yadav's return will be closely watched as Lucknow Super Giants look to benefit from the raw pace that made him one of the most exciting young bowlers in recent seasons.
