Jasprit Bumrah: The Stellar Sailor who could have saved Titanic - India's Crown Jewel

Jasprit Bumrah is someone who has established himself as one of the greats of this modern era. But slowly and steadily, he is asserting himself as THE GREATEST of the modern era.

New York witnessed a Houdini act in the daytime amid scorching sunlight as India snatched away victory from Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. On a comparatively better pitch at the Nassau County Stadium, Pakistan failed to chase down a target of just 120 runs.

India secured a magnificent victory by 6 runs and are is now in pole position to top Group A. On the other hand, Pakistan is on the brink of elimination from the competition.

Rohit Sharma would have been a worried man at the halfway stage, but perhaps he would have just breathed with a bit of relief while watching Jasprit Bumrah. The Indian pacer has done it all but needed to come good in this crucial match, and he did in stellar fashion.

A spell of four overs yielded only 14 runs and a return of 3 wickets from Jasprit Bumrah earned India the magnificent victory. The pacer, who was almost a Canadian citizen, made 1.4 billion people ecstatic with the artistry of his right hand and ensured doomsday just across the border on the West.

Jasprit Bumrah vs Pakistan - A Spell to Hail

India didn't have the perfect start with the ball either. Defending 119, Arshdeep Singh started waywardly and conceded 9 runs in the first over. Jasprit Bumrah was introduced in the 3rd over and although he didn't get a wicket in his first over, the pacer just conceded 4 runs.

In the 5th over, as Pakistan was looking like running away with it, Bumrah struck first blood. Babar Azam only found an edge and Suryakumar Yadav plucked a top catch as India got a much important wicket.

Despite the wicket, the match was in the balance and Pakistan was in complete command of the run chase. But it was Bumrah again who came in and conquered for India.

Although credit has to be given to Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and others, it was Bumrah who struck in his first ball of the second spell to dismiss Mohammad Rizwan, the man who India needed to dismiss the most. A set Rizwan got castled and Pakistan crumbled from there.

Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim couldn't deal with Bumrah's wizardry and could only squeeze singles. Iftikhar Ahmed dared to take him on and paid the ultimate price by losing his wicket. The pace sensation conceded only 5 runs in his last two overs and picked up two crucial wickets to tilt the match in India's favour.

The magic of Bumrah in today's match is that he brought back a smile to India today. The doom and gloom from Kanyakumari to Kolkata converted to ecstasy in a flash and Bumrah played a major part in it. He saved Rohit Sharma and the Indian team from utter disappointment.

The rejoicing was palpable. Gujarat Titans hilariously claimed to hand over the Defence Ministry to Jasprit Bumrah, while fans claimed the country must erect a statue of the Indian pacer.

Pakistan bowlers had the luxury of an overcast sky and a massively moisture deck, but the sun was beaming strongly when Bumrah was bowling. But still, the Indian pacer was the most economical bowler conceding just 3.5 runs per over!

The whole cricketing world envies India for Bumrah. The chips were down for the Men in Blue today and it was a combined bowling effort which steered the ship towards victory, and Bumrah was the captain who sailed it smoothly and saved the sinking ship. Perhaps he could have saved Titanic too.
