Jasprit Bumrah to Pat Cummins - List of Border-Gavaskar Trophy Player of The Series Since 2010

By MyKhel Staff

Jasprit Bumrah on Sunday (January 5) became the latest recipient of the Player of the Series award in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after the Indian pacer spearhead produced tremendous bowling performance throught the tour Down Under.

Bumrah finished the BGT as the leading wicket-taker, having claimed 32 wickets in 9 innings at an incredible average of 13.06. Among the 32 wickets, Bumrah took three five-wicket hauls with one helping India win the series opener in Perth.

The 30-year-old, who captained in two Tests during the series, broke several records, including becoming the fastest Indian in terms of deliveries bowled to take 200 Test wickets, and also went level with Harbhajan Singh for most wickets in a India vs Australia Test series.

In BGT 2024/25, Bumrah finished with match hauls of 8/72 in Perth; 4/63 in Adelaide; 9/94 in Brisbane; and 9/156 in Melbourne. In Sydney, the 31-year-old picked three wickets. During the Sydney Test, Bumrah only bowled 10 overs before going off the field due to back spasms and didn't return to bowl.

Also, during the BGT, Indian pace spearhead overtook legend Bishen Singh Bedi's record of 31 wickets - most for an Indian during a Test tour to Australia. Bedi recorded the feat during India's 1977/78 tour down under. These performances saw Bumrah bag the player of the series award.

Before Bumrah won the award, several players have gone on to win the Player of the Series with India's Sachin Tendulkar, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja winning the award more than once in their career.

Indian players have won the player of the series in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 12 times in 17 editions with Sachin Tendulkar, who won the award in 1998 and 2000, continuing the Indian domination in 2010. Ashwin and Jadeja, who shared the award in 2023, also won the award in previous editions.

Since 2010-11 series, an Indian player has won the BGT player of the series six times, while Australian player has won the award three times with Steve Smith, Pat Cummins and Michael Clarke bagging the prize. Here is a look at the BGT Player of the Series winners since 2010:
