Javed Miandad praises Dawood Ibrahim: 'It is an honour for me that his daughter married my son'

Javed Miandad, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has praised Javed Miandad and said that it was an honour that underworld don's daughter is married to his son.

Dawood Ibrahim's daughter Mahrukh Ibrahim married the legendary cricketer's son Junaid Miandad tied the knot back in 2005 in Dubai under strict security measures. Miandad had once revealed that his son and Dawood's daughter met while studying together in the UK.

“I have known him for a long time, from Dubai. It is an honour for me that his daughter married my son. My daughter-in-law is very well-educated; she studied in a convent school and went to a renowned university,” Javed Miandad told Pakistani journalist Hassan Nisar on the latter's YouTube channel.

Minadad added that Dawood has "done a lot for Muslims", also adding that people have wrong conceptions about the fugitive. Dawood Ibrahim is a 'wanted terrorist' in India where he masterminded the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.

“Understanding the real Dawood Ibrahim is not easy. The way people think about the family, they are not like that,” Javed Miandad said.

Dawood Ibrahim heads the Indian organised crime syndicate D-Company, which he founded in Mumbai in the 1970s. He is reportedly said to be residing in Pakistan. A report in December last year surfaced that he was rushed to hospital after being poisoned.

Javed Miandad played a total of 124 Test matches and scored 8832 runs at an average of 52.57. He smashed 23 hundreds and 43 fifties in the format. He also played 233 ODIs and scored 7381 runs at an average of 41.70. He also picked 24 wickets in his international career which spanned from 1976 to 1996.
