BCCI secretary Jay Shah will be named the new ICC chairman as he looks set to take up the role. The Indian administrator has been a prominent candidate for the top position at the world cricket's governing body and may soon be announced as its leader.
Current ICC chief Greg Barclay has announced his decision not to renew his term, which concludes on November 30. Barclay served two terms as ICC chairman before announcing his departure on Tuesday (August 20).

"ICC Chair Greg Barclay confirmed to the Board that he will not stand for a third term and will step down from the post when his current tenure finishes at the end of November. Barclay was appointed as the Independent ICC Chair in November 2020, before being re-elected in 2022," stated an ICC media release.
With Jay Shah being an influential figure, he is set to remain unopposed in the candidacy run at the apex body of international cricket. Shah, at the age of 35, is also set to become the youngest-ever ICC chairman.
Apart from that, he will also become the 5th person from India to head at the helm of ICC. Apart from Jay Shah, four other Indians have previously honed the role.
Late Jagmohan Dalmiya became the ICC president in 1997. He was the first India to be the president of ICC and remained at the post till 2000. Dalmiya, who hailed from Bengal, also was the president of the BCCI.
Sharad Pawar, a prominent politician from Maharashtra, also claimed the ICC presidency for two years. India won the ICC World Cup in 2011 during his tenure as the ICC chief.
Narayanaswami Srinivasan became the first ever Chairman of the ICC. He took over the role for 1 year 136 days, between 2014 and 2015.
The post was introduced in 2014 and from 2016, the President post was abolished and the Chairman has now become the supremo at the ICC.
Shashank Manohar honed the role as ICC chairman for over four years. He was succeeded by Greg Barclay, the incumbent ICC chairman whom Jay Shah is set to replace.
