Jay Shah to quit as BCCI secretary, This Man will replace him from December

By MyKhel Staff

Jay Shah's BCCI secretary post will be relinquished in November as he will move to ICC as its newly elected chairman.

Shah is set to step down as the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India at the end of this month. Shah was elected unopposed as the new ICC chairman in August, replacing Greg Barclay. His tenure as ICC chairman will commence on December 1.

Jay Shah

Shah's journey in cricket administration began with the Gujarat Cricket Association in 2009. He joined BCCI as its secretary in 2019 and played a crucial role during the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2022, he was re-elected as BCCI secretary and became part of the ICC's Finance & Commercial Affairs (F&CA) committee, assuming its chairmanship in 2023.

Rohan Jaitley to replace Jay Shah at BCCI

Amid this, Rohan Jaitley, currently president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), is a strong contender to replace Jay Shah. Anil Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, is also in contention. But as per reports, Jaitley is currently leading the race and may take over the reins.

Jaitley began his tenure at DDCA about four years ago when he was elected president, a position previously held by his father Arun Jaitley for 14 years. His leadership has been praised widely, and he was re-elected without opposition.

Under Jaitley, Delhi hosted five World Cup 2023 matches last year, while the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League also launched under his stewardship.

Though the secretary post is up for grabs, former India bowler Roger Binny will continue as the BCCI president.
