India Women cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has revealed that she once went out to have ice-cream with her Delhi Capitals (DC) teammates Tara Norris and ended up eavesdropping on conversation of boy.
India Women cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has revealed an incident in which she went out for an ice-cream with her Delhi Capitals (DC) teammate Tara Norris during the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023. The 22-year-old said that she went out in a hoodie and stood in the queue with other customers.

Further, the right-hander revealed that she ended up eavesdropping on a conversation of a boy who was talking about the WPL and praised the women's cricketers for putting up a show in the inaugural season.
"One more interesting story. I was taking one overseas player, Tara Norris to have ice-cream. Like, let's make her eat ice-cream. So, I went in a hoodie and all that and standing in the line. So then one guy was like, "Hey, are you aware that WPL is going to start?".
"I suddenly became curious, he had no clue that I am standing there in the line. He is like right here. So, I wanted to hear what does he say. He says, " Kya solid khelte hai yaar ye ladki log (Man, these girls play so well)."
"And I was like, what a moment, what a moment. It's honest, it's not like you meet people, they will sometimes say just to say it. I said no ice-cream needed now, this is enough," Rodrigues told on the latest episode of Breakfast with Champions.
We would have played inaugural WPL season for free: Jemimah
The top-order also opened up on what the inaugural season of the WPL meant for all the members of the Indian women cricket team. She said that monetary benefits had taken a backseat and players would have even agreed to play for free as it was the need of the hour for women's cricket in India.
"WPL 2023 auction was one of my most memorable moments I would say. And this was not just for Smriti or Harmanpreet, this was for every single player over there. It is genuine happiness for your teammate. And you know, you are a part of this team. Playing this WPL was crazy," She told Gaurav Kapur on the show.
"Honestly, I did not expect it to be at this level. Like we were just happy to be a part of it. We would have even played for free. No, but we had come to a point because we knew this was what was needed for women's cricket, especially in India.
"Even Harry di, I think when the opening happened, when they were on stage, I think Smriti and Harry di gave each other a hug. This is what we have been dreaming for.
"This is what we have been pushing for and it's happening and we are a part of it. So, this meant a lot to us and the kind of crowd we got at the DY Patil and the CCI," she added.
Mumbai Indians (MI) won the inaugural season of the WPL by beating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final on March 26.
