'Jigrr Classic' physique contest in Pune on May 21

Pune, May 17 (UNI) The cream of musclemen from across the state will be vying for honours in the state level ''Jigrr Classic'' best physique contest on May 21, being held as part of the Kothrud Cultural and Sports Festival.

Corporator Deepak Mankar told reporters here today that the five-day festival will commence from May 17. The physique contest will be held on the last day, on May 21, to mark the death anniversay of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

A total prize money of Rs 136,000 will be at stake with the ''Jigrr Classic'' title winner receiving a purse of Rs 21,000 and a trophy. The first five winners in respective seven weight categories will be awarded Rs 5000, Rs 4000, Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000, Mr Mankar said. The best poser and most improved body builder will receive Rs 5,000 and a trophy each.

Former ''Mr Universe'' and Arjuna awardee Premchand Degra will be the guest of honour at the competition.

Organising secretary Sharad Marne informed that 125 musclemen, including 15 from Pune, will be competing in the meet.
