Jitesh Sharma's remarkable performance against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday (May 27) was hailed as the best innings of the 2025 IPL season by former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody.
Jitesh, acting as stand-in captain, scored an unbeaten 85 off just 33 balls, propelling Royal Challengers Bengaluru to the IPL Qualifier 1.

When Jitesh came to bat after Virat Kohli's dismissal, RCB needed 105 runs from 52 balls in their challenging pursuit of 228. Before this match, Jitesh had not scored a half-century in the IPL. However, he made a significant impact with his stylish knock that will be remembered for years.
Displaying exceptional skill, Jitesh hit six sixes and eight boundaries during his innings. "The innings is, for me, the innings of the IPL this season by a stretch," Moody shared with Cricinfo. He praised Jitesh's ability to perform under pressure, noting the team's difficult position with key players like Kohli and Phil Salt already dismissed.
Despite facing considerable challenges, Jitesh remained unfazed and dismantled the opposition's bowling attack. "He not only took the game apart, he played smartly," Moody added. The Australian admired how Jitesh handled the situation as if he had experienced it many times before.
Jitesh and Mayank Agarwal formed a crucial partnership, adding 107 runs for the unbeaten fifth wicket. This collaboration secured a memorable victory for RCB. Their efforts overshadowed LSG captain Rishabh Pant's impressive 61-ball 118 that had earlier guided his team to a total of 227 for three.
The match highlighted Jitesh's potential and ability to perform in high-pressure situations. His extraordinary innings will be remembered as one of the standout performances of the IPL season.
