J'khand take vital 69 runs frist innings lead

Jamshedpur, Dec 03 (UNI) Host Jharkhand took vital 69 runs lead to pile up 405 for four in their first innings in reply to Goa's 336 all out on the penultimate day of the four-day Ranji trophy plate group B match at the Keenan stadium here today.

Resuming at overnight 213 for Jharkhand captain Manish Vardhan, who was unbeaten on 113 along with Arun Vidyarthi (38 not out) continued from where they left yesterday.

Playing a captain's knock Vardhan was finally out for 179, which consisted of 21 boundaries facing 371 balls in his 556 minutes stay in the wicket.

Vardhan and Vidyarthi put 272 runs in the second wicket stand.

The latter, however, had to left the field after retired hurt and Saurabh Tiwary joined Vardhan to consolidate the innings.

Tiwary scored a fine 74 with the help of five fours and the home team lost two quick wickets in form of Tiwari and Santosh Lal (0).

At stumps Vidyarthi remained not out on 72 with Aamir Hashmi (9 not out).

For Goa S Jakati bagged two wickets conceding 129 runs in 60 overs while pacer S Bandekar and spinner Aditya Angle chipped in one wicket each giving away 72 and 46 runs respectively.
