Joe Root slammed his 32nd Test hundred on Day 4 of the ongoing second Test against England at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Sunday, July 21. The hundred brought him at par with Australia's Steve Smith and New Zealand's Kane Willaimson, and the three batters now have joint eighth-highest number of T20I hundreds.
Joe Root brought up his 32nd Test hundred with a crisp cover drive in the 84th over from Alzarri Joseph. The former world number one Test batter scored a total of 122 runs off 178 balls.

The 33-year-old is now just a hundred short of equalling Alastair Cook's record for most Test hundreds by an England batter. India's Virat Kohli has 29 hundreds - the least among the 'Fab 4' list consisting of Root, Smith and Williamson.
The innings also witnessed Joe Root become the eighth highest run-scorer in the history of Test cricket. He went past the tally of Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene (11,814) and West Indies' Shivnarine Chanderpaul (11,867).
This was also Joe Root's fifth Test hundred at Trent Bridge- joint highest at the England venue alongside Mike Atherton and Denis Compton. He also equalled Cook, Andrew Strauss, Alan Lamb and Colin Cowdrey's tally for most Test hundreds for England versus West Indies. Each of the players have smashed six Test tons vs West Indies.
The solid knock from the second-ranked Test batter in the world helped England score over 400 runs in both the innings of a Test match for the first time in history.
England finished their second innings at 425, setting a daunting 385-run target for West Indies. A win in the second Test will help England take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
