Former India cricketer and 2007 T20 World Cup winner Joginder Sharma has been accused of encouraging suicide of a young Haryana resident.
Joginder Sharma, who is fondly remembered for picking up the last wicket in the Final, is among six people who are being charged for the suicide of a Hisar resident named Pawan.

The former India player is the current Deputy Superintendent of Haryana Police and he is alleged to have a role in the suicide. A case has been lodged against him by the Haryana Police.
Pawan's mother Sunita filed the complaint on January 2, after her son took his own life on New Year's day. There was a property dispute and Pawan hanged himself regarding that. Sunita has accused Joginder Sharma of harassing her son, as she claims that led to the suicide.
The family members of the deceased also demand SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act on the accused people, but Haryana Police has confirmed they can only include that after a proper investigation. A case has been filed and Haryana Police will now investigate the matter.
Joginder Sharma although has denied his involvement in this atrocity and has given himself a clean chit.
"I am not aware of this case. I neither know nor have ever met Pawan," the Haryana DSP said.
Sharma played 4 ODIs and 4 T20Is for India from 2004 to 2007. The 40-year-old has also played in the IPL, representing MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings.
