Josh Inglis smashed the fastest T20I hundred by an Australian batter on Friday (September 6). The wicketkeeper-batter took just 43 deliveries to reach the three-figure mark in the second T20I against Scotland in Edinburgh.
The 29-year-old broke the record which was jointly held by former Australia captain Aaron Finch, and him. Earlier, Josh Inglis had hit a 47-ball T20I hundred against India in Visakhapatnam in 2023. Finch hit his 47-ball T20I hundred against England in Southampton in 2013.

Scotland opted to bowl in the second T20I as Josh Inglis' 49-ball 103 propelled Australia to 196/4 in 20 overs. The innings from Inglis consisted of seven fours and as many sixes.
The innings came after openers Jake Fraser-McGurk (16) and Travis Head (0) were sent back in the pavilion before the end of fourth. Left-arm pacer Bradley Currie picked both the wickets.
Inglis and Cameron Green partnered for 92 runs off just 52 balls. Green scored 36 runs off 29 balls. Marcus Stoinis (20* off 20) and Tim David (17* off 7) remained unbeaten.
At the time this story was published, Scotland were three down for 44 in six overs. Australia won the first T20I by seven wickets after chasing down a 155-run target in just 9.4 overs. Travis Head scored 80 runs off just 25 balls. Inglis scored unbeaten 27 off 13.
A win in the second T20I will give Australia an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
