Joshua Little became the first Irishman to take a wicket in the Indian Premier League as the Gujarat Titans' southpaw pacer dismissed Ambati Rayudu during IPL 2023's opening game against Chennai Super Kings at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday.
Joshua Little, who was a net bowler for CSK last year, took his first IPL wicket during his maiden appearance for the franchise. The 23-year-old bowler dismissed Rayudu (12 runs) during the 13th over of the match as he bowled it full to the right-hander, who couldn't connect to the ball after stepping out and was castled.

Earlier during the mini-auction earlier this year, Little also became the first Ireland international to be bought as GT paid INR 4.4 crore. Eoin Morgan remains the first Irishman to play in the IPL but had already switched to England by the time of his first appearance for England.
Joshua Little, who missed out on the Pakistan Super League last month followed by Ireland's tour of Bangladesh due to injury, proved too costly for his wicket as he yielded 41 runs in his quota of four overs. Bowling his first over in the powerplay, the young Irishman gave away 15 runs.
Little was later whacked for a six and a four by MS Dhoni in the final over of the CSK innings but the southpaw came back well as he gave away just three runs in the other four balls of the innings.
