Kallis goes to Team Bangalore; Kolkata bags Gayle

Mumbai, Feb 20 (UNI) Jacques Kallis of South Africa was won by Team Bangalore for a bid of 9,00,000 dollars from his base price of 2,25,000 dollars to become the highest bid player in round four of the players bid for the DLF Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament that will be held from April 17 to June 1 this year.

The bidding being done under closed doors with the media being kept out of the actual bidding, saw West Indian swashbuckling opening batsman and off spinner Chris Gayle being picked up by Team Kolkata for a price of 8,00,000 dollars from his base price of 2,50,000 dollars.

Pakistan's Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Asif, who went under the hammer in the fourth round were picked up by Hyderabad for 6,50,000 dollars and Delhi for 6,50,000 dollars respectively, while the Indian speedster Sreesanth was picked up by Priety Zinta's team Mohali for 6,25,000 dollars.

The Pakistani captain Shoaib Malik with a base price of 3,00,000 dollars was bidded successfully by Team Delhi for 5,00,000 dollars.

Team Jaipur bid Pakistani batsman Younis Khan for his base price of 2,25,000 dollars, while former new Zealand captain Stephen Fleming was also brought at his base price of 3,50,000 dollars by Team Chennai.

Left arm seamer from India Zaheer Khan was out bidded by Team Bangalore for a price of 4,50,000 dollars up from his base price of 2,00,000 dollars.

South African skipper would be playing for Team Jaipur for a successful bid of 4,75,000 dollars, while his teammate Herschelle Gibbs went to Team Hyderabad for 5,75,000 dollars.

The IPL designated five 'Icon Players' Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag, who are not up for bidding and will play for their respective cities Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mohali and Delhi, will get 15 per cent more than from the costliest player of their team.
