'I am truly Sorry': Kamran Akmal apologizes after Harbhajan Singh’s grilling for Racist comment on India pacer Arshdeep Singh

By MyKhel Staff

Former Pakistan player Kamran Akmal has issued an apology on social media after making a racist comment following the match between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan suffered a defeat at the hands of India by 6 runs and analyzing that, Akmal made a classless comment during an interaction on a Pakistani TV channel.

Arshdeep Singh bowled the final over of the match against Pakistan and Akmal made a derogatory comment on the India bowler involving the Sikh religion. The Pakistani player was seen laughing while saying it and the video has made rounds on social media. The video shocked the world and people in Pakistan also vehemently criticized the former Pakistan player for his obnoxious comments.

After that, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh took apart Akmal on social media and bashed him for his remarks.

"Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. You should know the history of Sikhs before u open ur filthy mouth. We Sikhs saved ur mothers and sisters when they were abducted by invaders, the time invariably was 12 o'clock . Shame on you guys.. Have some Gratitude Kamran Akmal," Harbhajan wrote on his X profile.

After widespread criticism across the world, the former Pakistan player apologized late Monday night. Akmal, to his credit, realized his mistake and profoundly said sorry to the entire Sikh community for his abysmal comments.

"I deeply regret my recent comments and sincerely apologize to Harbhajan Singh and the Sikh community. My words were inappropriate and disrespectful. I have the utmost respect for Sikhs all over the world and never intended to hurt anyone. I am truly sorry," Akmal wrote in his X profile.

Any kind of racism is one of the worst offences and a respected person such as Kamran Akmal, who is a public figure, should have been much more careful while choosing his words.
