Rachin Ravindra smashed a hundred in the first Test against India to set Twitter (now X) on fire on Friday, October 17. The 24-year-old New Zealand star, who has his roots in Bengaluru, made his first Test outing in the city's M Chinnaswamy Stadium a memorable one by hammering a 124-ball hundred.
The southpaw's second Test hundred and first overseas, took New Zealand's first innings lead to 299 with three wickets remaining at the time of lunch. Ravindra started from where he left yesterday and remained solid despite three wickets falling in the first hour of Day 3.

He got a very able partner in Tim Southee, who gave him ample support to complete his hundred in some style. The youngster made perfect use of his wrist and feet and played shots all across the ground. He swept Ashwin for a four to bring up his second Test hundred in his 10th Test match.
The rising superstar of the game is the first New Zealand batter since Ross Taylor to hit a Test hundred in India. Taylor scored 113 at the same venue in 2012.
Rachin Ravindra, who was born in Wellington but has a family origin from Bengaluru where his relatives still live. also scored a World Cup hundred at the venue last year.
His hundred-run partnership with former New Zealand captain Southee came off just hundred balls. The duo scored 58 runs in the last four overs before lunch. Southee was just one short of his fifty, while Ravindra was batting on 104 off 125 balls including 11 four and two sixes.
