Kapil sets eyes on Sharjah, Abu Dhabi as ICL venues
Dubai, Sept 8 (UNI) Apparently buoyed by invitation to hold its matches by a prestigious Pakistan cricket club, Indian Cricket League (ICL) has set eyes on Sharjah and Abu Dhabi as possible venues to take the 'unofficial' league to foreign shores.
Speaking to the participants of a seminar here, ICL Executive Board Chairman Kapil Dev revealed plans to stage matches in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi where there are large numbers of Indian expatriates.
''We would look at taking our league matches not only to Pakistan, but also to Sharjah, Dubai or Abu Dhabi,'' said the legendary former India captain in a telephone address at the seminar organised by Karachi Arts Council.
A local cricket club in Karachi has invited ICL to organise its matches in Pakistan and Kapil said he would consider the offer.
Arif Abbasi, a former Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive, who is currently the chief executive of the Arabian Country Club in Karachi has sent an invitation to Kapil offering the club's ground for ICL matches.
