Karnataka to take Haryana tomorrow in Ranji
Mysore, Nov 30 (UNI) Hosts Karnataka will take on Haryana in their second match of the elite group Ranji Trophy at the Platinum Jubilee ''Gangothri Glads'' grounds of Mysore University here tomorrow.
Both teams are going in this match to regain their forma, particularly Karnataka which has a strong team on paper against a young Haryana team.
Karnataka suffered a setback when their skipper Yere Gowda was forced to sit out in the first encounter against Baroda which they lost by seven wickets.
But Yere has how been given the No Objection Certificate from the BCCI and is available for the second match tomorrow. He represented the Railways for 13 years and has been recalled by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to play for the state team. Haryana meanwhile, also lost their first match against Andhra Pradesh by 115 runs.
Yere said the new pitch was good and expected to take spin in later stages of the match. His team expected to give better performances after correcting the mistakes of the first match.
He hoped to move to the second stage in the Ranji Trophy by winning the remaining matches.
Karnataka coach B K Venkatesh Prasad told UNI that the batsmen had some problems to adjust to the conditions in the last match and expected to click in the coming matches. He also said the pitch is very good and a clearer picture would emerge only after the first session of the game tomorrow.
The team composition would be known only tomorrow morning after team meetings this evening. Karnataka will be looking forward to a good beginning in the fresh ground which has been improved after KSCA has taken over for its maintanance from the University of Mysore.
Haryana captain Amit Mishra said his team is young and will be able to turn around in the later stages of the tournament. He said Karnataka had a better side, however, his team with players like Sunny Singh, Sumit Sharma, Siddarth Verma, Sandeep Singh, Gaurav Vishit, Sanjay Bhadhwar and others would give a good show both in the batting and bowling departments.
This is an important match for both teams to earn some points as they look to open their account after opening loss.
Mysore zonal committee convenor S Balachandran told UNI that the stadium has been completely built with special dressing rooms for both the teams and other facilities in the field with the help of KSCA which has been spending a huge amount of money to improve the district level centres in the state. More number of the first class matches would be played in this pitch in the coming days and which has seating capacity of over 15,000, he added.
