Kausar becomes first Pakistani woman to umpire in cricket league match in Britain

By Super Admin

Lahore, Dec. 17 (ANI) : Former women cricketer Shah Parveen Kausar has become the first Pakistani woman to stand as an umpire in a league match in England.

Kausar stood as a field umpire in the District Cricket League between Shaw and Friamere Second XI at Holebottom Clough, The Daily Times reports.

This was not the first time that Kausar has donned the umpire's cap however, as she has the experience of umpiring both in men's and women's games in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has acknowledged Kausar's feat, saying her achievement would attract more women to cricket.

"Thanks to Kausar's achievements, more women will be encouraged to increase their involvement with cricket," a statement issued by the PCB said.

"Kausar's achievements are especially noteworthy as she is making great strides in an area previously dominated by men and is a great advertisement for equality in Pakistan sports. Furthermore, Kausar's achievement will help provide encouragement to other women to break similar ground in cricket," it added. (ANI)
