Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav is all set to embark on a new journey - this time off the cricket field and into the political arena. The 39-year-old joins the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at 3 PM on Tuesday, 8th April, marking the start of his political career.
Jadhav was welcomed into the party fold in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP's state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

Jadhav's induction ceremony has now gone viral on the social space.
Born on March 26, 1985, in Pune, Maharashtra, Kedar Mahadev Jadhav carved out a respectable cricketing career known for his aggressive batting and handy part-time off-spin bowling. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India in 2014 against Sri Lanka and went on to represent the country in 73 ODIs, scoring 1,389 runs and picking up 27 wickets.
Jadhav played several crucial knocks for India, including a memorable 120-run innings against England in Pune in 2017, which he crafted in partnership with Virat Kohli to lead India to a thrilling victory. That performance remains one of the standout moments of his international career.
Jadhav was a mainstay in Maharashtra's domestic side and had a prolific 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season, where he amassed over 1,000 runs, including a triple century (327). His performances made him a dependable middle-order option and a crisis man for both his domestic and national teams.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Jadhav featured for four different franchises - Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. His ability to adapt to different roles made him a valuable asset throughout his IPL tenure.
On June 3, 2024, Jadhav officially announced his retirement from all formats of cricket, closing a chapter that had spanned over a decade. Now, just months later, he is ready to start a new innings in public life through politics.
As he prepares to join the BJP, many will be watching closely to see how the former cricketer channels his discipline, experience, and public appeal into his new role in politics. Whether this move turns out to be as successful as his cricketing career remains to be seen - but for Kedar Jadhav, the game has just begun, again.
