Kevin Pietersen stands with Ambati Rayudu after 'Joker' Comment, urges Fans to stop 'Avalanche of Abuse'

By MyKhel Staff

Ambati Rayudu has found himself in the middle of controversy yet again after his antics during the IPL 2024.

The former Chennai Super Kings player has been garnering issues towards him this entire season. Primarily, he took apart Virat Kohli and RCB superstars and directly blamed them for the failure of the franchise.

After the IPL 2024 Final, he took a dig at the RCB team and their stalwart again by saying that Orange Caps doesn't win a team the IPL title. Rayudu also openly supported Sunrisers Hyderabad before the IPL 2024 final.

Rayudu, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, has a connection with SRH and he supports them. The ex-India player was wearing an Orange waistcoat before the match. However, as KKR demolished SRH to win the IPL title, Rayudu was seen switching to a Blue waistcoat.

Fellow English expert Kevin Pietersen took Rayudu apart hilariously on-air and told Rayudu 'a joker' on live TV during the post-match show of the IPL 2024 final. And soon after that, Rayudu has been subject to a lot of online abuse.

The former India player has been heckled online, with fans hurling him with abusive and offensive words. But after observing that, Pietersen has come to aid Rayudu and sensationally stood beside him.

On Tuesday (May 28), Pietersen took to social media and urged the Indian fans to slow down the online abuse and stop tribalism. He confirmed that it was nothing but banter with Rayudu and slammed the fans for tormenting the ex-Indian batter.

"Come on guys! This tribalism with/against Indian players on social media needs to slow down! Example -@RayuduAmbati and I were messing around after the IPL final and all of sudden that banter has turned into an avalanche of abuse towards Ambati. PLEASE stop it?" Pieterson wrote on his X profile.
