Kieron Pollard Surpasses Jos Buttler with most Runs in T20 Cricket, Two Indians in Top 10 List
Kieron Pollard is once again the undisputed king of T20 run-scoring. The veteran West Indian all-rounder reclaimed his spot at the top of the all-time list, surpassing England's Jos Buttler during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 fixture at the Brian Lara Stadium.
Playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders against the Saint Lucia Kings, the 39-year-old needed 35 runs to overtake Buttler's recent tally. He did so in typical explosive fashion, smashing a rapid 65 off just 26 deliveries. His knock, which featured six boundaries and five sixes at a strike rate of 250, officially made him the highest run-scorer in overall T20 cricket history with a massive 14,921 runs.

The race for the top spot has been a highly entertaining sub-plot in 2026. Earlier this year, Pollard overtook his former West Indies teammate Chris Gayle to become the format's leading scorer. However, his reign was briefly interrupted in August when Buttler went past him while playing for the Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred.
Now, just weeks later, Pollard has struck back to take the crown. His blistering knock during a steep 212-run chase not only entertained the local Trinidad crowd but also cemented his legacy as a T20 giant. The five sixes he hit during the innings also took his career tally to 1,010 maximums, making him one of only two players alongside Gayle to cross the 1,000-six mark in the format.
With 14,921 runs currently under his belt, Pollard is now within striking distance of becoming the first cricketer to ever breach the 15,000-run milestone in T20s.
