KKR Injury Update: Sunil Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy Return to Training Ahead of LSG Clash
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) received a timely boost ahead of their upcoming IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), with both Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy returning to training after recent fitness concerns.
The two frontline spinners had missed KKR's previous fixture against Punjab Kings, raising concerns about the team's bowling depth. However, the franchise confirmed that both players are now back in the nets, though their availability for the next match will be decided only at the toss.

Sunil Narine Recovery Update Ahead of KKR vs LSG
Sunil Narine's absence from the XI against Punjab Kings came as a late setback, with the all-rounder falling ill on the morning of the match. His recovery now comes as a significant positive for KKR, especially given his dual role with both bat and ball.
Providing clarity on the situation, the franchise shared an official update stating:
"Sunil had fallen ill on the morning of our match vs PBKS, 'cause of which he wasn't a part of the XI. He has since been feeling better, and trained with the team both yesterday and today - batted and bowled."
Narine's return to full training suggests he is close to match fitness, offering KKR renewed balance at the top of the order and in their spin attack.
Varun Chakaravarthy Injury Update Ahead of KKR vs LSG
Varun Chakaravarthy, meanwhile, had picked up an injury during KKR's earlier match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The spinner hurt the little finger on his left hand while taking a catch, forcing the team management to closely monitor his recovery.
The update also confirmed encouraging progress on that front:
"Varun had injured the little finger on his left hand while taking Abhishek's catch in the match vs SRH. The medical team has been working closely with him. He bowled his full set at training today."
Completing a full bowling session indicates that Varun is nearing readiness, though the team is expected to take a cautious approach before confirming his return.
Will Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy play for KKR vs LSG?
While both players returning to training has lifted the mood within the camp, KKR have not yet confirmed whether Narine and Chakaravarthy will feature in the playing XI against Lucknow Super Giants.
The team management is expected to assess match-day conditions and player fitness before making a final call.
With KKR aiming to stabilise their bowling unit after a disrupted start to the season - including a rain-affected fixture against Punjab Kings - the possible return of their two key spinners could play a decisive role in their performance at Eden Gardens.
