Kolkata Knight Riders played their first intrasquad practice match on Sunday (March 17) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The KKR team was divided into Team Gold and Team Purple and it was an exciting encounter. Almost all of the stars of KKR took part in the match as the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Andre Russell, Phil Salt, Sunil Narine and others took part in the match.

Team Gold batted first and amassed a mammoth total of 237 for 4 in their 20 overs. It was an outstanding batting performance which was facilitated by new boy Phil Salt, who scored an unbeaten 74 off just 41 balls, hitting 7 sixes in the process. Venkatesh Iyer (19 off 15), Nitish Rana (50 off 32) also played excellently, while Rinku Singh provided the finishing touch with an outstanding 30 off just 12 balls.
Team Purple had KS Bharat and Angkrish Raghuvanshi opening the run chase. Raghuvanshi made a superb start to his innings, while Bharat disappointed. Russell got Bharat early as he could manage only 6 runs. KKR captain Shreyas Iyer came to the crease next and hit two boundaries to start off his innings. Raghuvanshi continued his onslaught with some tremendous batting, and got out after scoring a fantastic 48 off just 26 balls.
Suyash Sharma, who was part of the Purple team, bowled for the Gold side in the 2nd innings. Manish Pandey also had two chances to bat in the chase after getting dismissed for a duck while batting for Gold. Iyer was dismissed for 22 runs off 18 balls, which opened the chance for Rinku Singh to bat again.

Pandey and Rinku stepped up the things for Purple team, especially the former who scored runs quickly with his second chance, amassing a half-century off just 23 balls. Pandey retired out after his half-century and Andre Russell came in to bat for the Purple team while they needed 87 runs off the last five overs.
Russell and Venkatesh Iyer started their blitzkrieg and put the Purple side close to the finishing line. Russell was dismissed by Sakib Hussain and the Purple team needed 24 runs off the last over. Vaibhav Arora bowled the last over and conceded 19 runs as Purple lost by just 4 runs.
