KKR Jerseys in IPL: Kolkata Knight Riders and their Kits over the Years

As the IPL 2025 is on the horizon, the defending Champions Kolkata Knight Riders have always been a hugely supported team over the years.

KKR, who are the three-time champions of the Indian Premier League, have been a force in the franchise tournament from the very beginning of the tournament. From Sourav Ganguly to Gautam Gambhir, some of the iconic players of India and the world have donned their colours over the years.

Along with their persona on the field, KKR have showcased a dynamic evolution in their jersey designs since IPL's inception in 2008. Here's a year-by-year overview of their jerseys.

KKR Jersey in 2008:

In their debut IPL season, KKR sported a black and gold jersey. Co-owner Shah Rukh Khan highlighted that black symbolized Goddess Kali, while gold represented success.

The jersey design remained largely consistent, with a subtle shift as the golden sleeves adopted a slightly whiter hue. KKR had a disastrous season in South Africa as they finished last.

This year marked a significant change as KKR transitioned from black to purple jerseys, establishing the purple and gold color scheme that continues today.

KKR in 2011, 2012 and 2013:

Under Gautam Gambhir's leadership, KKR introduced a new jersey design. This period was notable as the team clinched their first IPL title in 2012, wearing this kit. The jersey featured a refined design with 'NOKIA' prominently displayed as the main sponsor.

KKR unveiled a newly designed jersey and achieved immediate success by securing their second IPL title. Manish Pandey's stellar performance in the final was a highlight of this season.

KKR Jersey 2015:

Gionee became the primary shirt sponsor. The jersey underwent subtle modifications, especially around the shoulder area. The design saw minimal tweaks, mainly around the shoulder region. KKR reached the playoffs but couldn't progress further.

A notable change was introduced with a gold-dominated lower section on the jersey. Despite the fresh look, the team's performance didn't meet expectations. Gautam Gambhir's final year as KKR captain ended without success.

Marking the post-Gambhir era, Dinesh Karthik took over as captain. The jersey design remained consistent, and KKR advanced to the playoffs.

The jersey underwent significant changes, with golden yellow accents on the sleeves and lower part. NOKIA returned as the shirt sponsor.

MPL became the main sponsor, with the jersey design staying consistent. There was not a huge change in the fabrics of the kit as the Knights wore more of same in the two COVID-19 ridden IPL seasons. In the 2021 season, they also reached the final but were beaten finalists.

A major redesign featured intricate patterns on the lower half. Winzo Games emerged as the primary shirt sponsor.

The jersey showcased an updated design with scattered yellow dots on the purple base. MyFab11 took over as the main shirt sponsor.

The Knight Riders won their third title donning the jersey, which had Dream11 as shirt sponsor in front with yellow arrowed design in front as well. The shoulder strip also had a firm yellow presence.

KKR has launched their new kit for IPL 2025 and it has Three Stars woven in the jersey beautifully, signifying their three IPL title wins.

Apart from that, the crest has also added a third star and the Knights will be donning it in the upcoming season. KKR's jersey will also carry a Golden IPL badge on the arm this year to recognize them as defending champions.
