Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has inched closer to lifting their third Indian Premier League title after becoming the first team to confirm a playoff berth in the ongoing IPL 2024.
The 2012 and 2014 winners KKR sealed the top spot on the IPL 2024 points table with 20 points from 14 matches thanks to 9 wins and 2 no results. This is their eighth IPL playoff qualification in 17 seasons with their first coming in 2011.

Shreyas Iyer-led KKR will take on Pat Cummins' second-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1 at the world's largest cricket venue - Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (May 21).
Playing in qualifier 1 gives both teams an extra advantage. While the winner earns a direct entry into the final, all is not lost for the loser, who gets another shot at booking a spot in the summit clash via the Qualifier 2, where they will face the winner of the Eliminator.
Before they face SRH in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1 and potentially either the qualifier 2 or the final, let's take a look at KKR playoffs record, stats and results from the previous editions of Indian Premier League:
The Kolkata-based side has reached the playoffs eight times now and gone all the way two times to lift the trophy. They first qualified for the playoffs in 2011 and had last reached the knockout stage in 2021.
In their seven previous playoffs, they have reached the final three times, finishing runners up in 2021, and exited in the eliminator twice and qualifier 2 twice. They have never lost the first qualifier in their 2 attempts. Here is a look at their playoff record:
