Andre Russell, the star all-rounder of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is reportedly set to retire from international cricket after the first two T20I matches against Australia in July 2025, which will be played on his home ground, Sabina Park in Jamaica.
Cricket West Indies has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia, scheduled from July 20 to 28, with matches set to take place at Sabina Park in Jamaica and Warner Park in St. Kitts.

Shai Hope is set to lead the Windies, who will be hoping to register a strong comeback in the five-match series after a dismal outing in the Test series, where they lost 0-3.
Russell's connection with KKR runs deep-he has repeatedly expressed his desire to play for KKR until the end of his career, considering IPL and Eden Gardens his favourite stages, where he feels the "most goosebumps" thanks to the passionate Eden crowd. He will now end his international career at his home stadium in Jamaica on July 23.
While Russell's international career seems to be winding down, the veteran all-rounder appears focused on continuing his impact in franchise cricket, especially in the IPL.
If Russell's international retirement proceeds as expected, KKR fans can still hope to see him don the purple and gold jersey for a few more IPL seasons, as there have been no public indications about retiring from franchise cricket. His farewell to international cricket is seen as a pivot to concentrate fully on franchise leagues, where he has been a marquee player.
Andre Russell has played 84 T20Is for West Indies. The veteran has scored 1078 runs for the West Indies at a strike rate of 163, with 3 half-centuries. The 37-year-old has also picked up 61 wickets in his international T20 career.
