KKR star Sunil Narine shares his driving factor ahead of IPL 2025, makes huge admission on the Tournament

Sunil Narine says the biggest driving factor of his career has been a constant will to perform at the highest level.

The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner is set to take the field for the 14th season in the Indian Premier League.

Over the years, Narine has been a stalwart of the game and has epitomized consistency and class with his name in the T20 format around the world. Often known for his mystery spin and swashbuckling batting, the West Indies all-rounder has been a pillar for KKR in the IPL for a decade and a half now.

However, his career faced a major hurdle when his bowling action was reported multiple times, forcing him to remodel it. This significantly affected his effectiveness, and he struggled to regain his old magic.

Despite these challenges, Narine reinvented himself, adding batting firepower to his game. Promoted as an opener for KKR, he became a game-changer, providing explosive starts and proving his versatility. His all-round skills kept him relevant in franchise cricket, even when his international appearances dwindled.

In recent years, Narine has continued to evolve, focusing on accuracy and variations rather than sheer mystery. And the KKR played opened up on the recipe of his success at the highest level.

Narine attended an event in Kolkata organized by Parimatch, where he shared the reason behind his consistent deliverance over the years. While answering the question of MyKhel at the event, Narine said his willingness to perform well for the team has played a key part in his success, coupled with the work behind the scenes.

"I think it is all about the legacy and the game we play. It's always wanting to do good. Nothing is guaranteed but when you work hard off the field, on the field, it becomes easier. There is pressure but consistently playing in different scenarios and to see the best you can come out of that," Narine said.

The former West Indies ace also admits IPL as the hardest franchise competition in the world and says the tournament has impacted his game for the good.

"It has developed my cricket. I think the level of cricket you get when you come to IPL is probably the hardest. And obviously, as time went along, IPL got harder and harder. I think all the teams are very good. There's no easy game, it's very competitive. And I think it's obviously an enjoyable tournament based on the fans and the love the Indian people have for cricket in general."

Narine is certain to be part of the KKR lineup as they commence their IPL 2025 campaign against RCB on Saturday (March 22) at the Eden Gardens.
