The match saw a spectacular bowling performance by KKR, with spinner Varun Chakravarthy clinching three crucial wickets that stifled DC's ability to post a competitive total.

Electing to bat first, Delhi Capitals found themselves struggling on a challenging pitch, managing only 153/9 in their allotted 20 overs. The highlight for DC was a hard-fought 35 not out by Kuldeep Yadav, making him the top scorer in an otherwise underwhelming batting display.
Vaibhav Arora marked his return with a commendable 2/29, setting the tone early in the innings. Chakravarthy's spell of 3/16, especially his dismissal of DC skipper Rishabh Pant for 27, further derailed the Capitals' innings.
In response, KKR's chase was dominated by Phil Salt, who after being dropped early in his innings, capitalised on the mistake to score a rapid 68 off just 33 balls. His innings was embellished with five sixes and seven fours, propelling KKR towards the target with significant ease.
Salt's partnership with Sunil Narine set up a brisk 79-run opening stand, putting KKR in a commanding position early in their innings.
Despite a brief hiccup caused by Axar Patel, who picked up two wickets including Salt's, KKR's skipper Shreyas Iyer (33* off 23) and Venkatesh Iyer (26* off 23) steered their team home comfortably, finishing at 156/3 in just 16.3 overs.
This win not only improved KKR's standing in the points table but also boosted their net run-rate to the best in the tournament at 1.096.
DC's bowling, apart from Axar Patel's 2/25, lacked the bite needed to defend their total. Lizard Williams had a forgettable outing, conceding 23 runs in a disastrous opening over that set the tone for KKR's successful chase. The usually reliable Kuldeep Yadav also struggled, giving away 34 runs without claiming any wickets.
This match at Eden Gardens was less about the fireworks often seen in this venue and more about strategic bowling and capitalizing on opponents' errors. KKR's disciplined bowling in the powerplay and their aggressive batting approach in the chase underscored a well-rounded performance.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will rue their inability to convert starts into significant innings, as well as their misfielding which proved costly in the context of the game.
KKR now sits comfortably at second in the standings, looking more like a contender for the title, while Delhi Capitals will need to regroup and rethink their strategy going forward in the league.
