KKR vs GT Playing 11, IPL 2025: Andre Russell to be Dropped? Kolkata Knight Riders vs Gujarat Titans Predicted Lineups

By MyKhel Staff

KKR vs GT Playing 11: The reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders will host Gujarat Titans in the 39th fixture of the IPL 2025 on Monday (April 21) at the Eden Gardnes.

This season, KKR have been struggling from the outset due to their inconsistency. After playing seven games, they have secured only three wins and are placed seventh with 6 points. In their most recent match, they failed to chase a modest target of 112 against PBKS. In contrast, GT are currently leading the table with 10 points. They have won five out of seven matches and boast the best net run rate (+0.984) among all participating teams.

KKR vs GT Team News, Injury Update

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR have not reported any major injuries and are likely to play their strongest XI. Their batting this season relies heavily on the top and upper-middle order, particularly on Rahane, Narine, and Venkatesh Iyer. Opener Quinton de Kock has struggled apart from a good show against RR. However, Rinku Singh finding form brings hope to KKR’s lower-order batting woes.

As they have had difficulties against spin this season, KKR must be wary with their shot selection against the Titans’ top-class spinners like Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan.

Andre Russell can be dropped while Rovman Powell may be given a nod. Also, Vaibhav Arora was hit on the fingers during a training session but the pacer is expected to play this match. For the Knight Riders, South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock hasn't been at his best as well but the Proteas star is likely to feature in this one as well.

Gujarat Titans

GT hold the best average (52.37) and strike rate (162.4) against spin among all teams this season. Their top three also have the highest combined average (49.72) this year. Their performance against the top spin unit of IPL 2025 will be decisive. Jos Buttler will be crucial, not only for his excellent form but also because of his favorable strike rate against KKR’s bowlers. The Englishman also has two centuries at this venue against the Knights.

However, KKR spinners maintain the best economy rate (6.51 RPO) this season. If they bowl first, it will be a tough test for GT’s top-order. Kagiso Rabada remains unavailable as he returned home for personal reasons.
