Mitchell Starc showcased his class finally in KKR colours as the Australian bowler pulled off a brilliant spell against LSG in the IPL 2024 match on Sunday (April 14).
Bowling first on a humid and warm Kolkata afternoon, the KKR bowlers implemented their plans perfectly and restricted the Lucknow side to just 161 runs.

Mitchell Starc, in particular, was the star of the show with the ball for Kolkata Knight Riders. The Australian pacer was expensive in the first over, but came back brilliantly to register his best spell in the KKR colours. Starc finished with a figure of 3 for 28 in his four overs.
After his big-money arrival in IPL 2024, it hasn't been the best of times for Starc. The 33-year-old has gone expensive and only had two wickets in 4 matches prior to today. But it was a fantastic outing for him on the new day of the Bengali calendar year. The pacer spoke in the mid-innings and said he was happy to make an impact with the ball.
"It's always nice to contribute and make an impact with the ball. It is a little bit warmer in Kolkata and in our first-day game, we did pretty well with the ball. The wicket was a bit two-paced, uneven bounce. All our bowlers chipped in well," Starc said.
Starc has gone expensive in the powerplays this season but the Australian revealed it is part of the plan for him to look for swing in the first couple of overs.
"It's generally part of my role to swing that ball and I have been doing that for a long time This wicket was a bit different. You have to probably get the length back and we just pulled back a little bit to get the result," the Australian added.
This is Starc's best figures in KKR colours as the Australian now has five wickets in this IPL season.
