Lucknow Super Giants pacer Shamar Joseph has bowled the most expensive first over of IPL 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday (April 14).
Joseph was handed his IPL debut by LSG as the West Indies pacer replaced Naveen-ul-Haq. But it hasn't been the best of starts for him, as the bowler conceded 22 runs off his first over on debut.

Shamar Joseph started the first over with a dot ball and then the second ball conceded a single. Sunil Narine hit him for a boundary and then a couple. Then it was another fine delivery in which Narine sneaked in a Bye. At about this point, Joseph had conceded 8 runs in the first five balls, indicating a decent over.
In the final ball, Phil Salt's catch was dropped in the short fine leg. But as people were thinking Joseph was denied a wicket in his first Over, it was far from over. That ball was given a No Ball for overstepping.
After that, in the free hit delivery, Joseph bowled a wide. In the 2nd free hit delivery, Joseph had his radar all wrong again and it flew Four Wides. In the third free hit, Joseph went down the leg side and also overstepped, resulting in his 2nd No Ball of his first over. The fifth Free Hit delivery eventually went for a Six over long off and thus Shamar Joseph's torment ended as he conceded 22 runs in his maiden IPL over.
Joseph's over is the most expensive first over of an innings in IPL 2024. The LSG pacer will be hoping to come back stronger in his upcoming overs. But this is not the most expensive first over in IPL's history.
