In a nail-biting encounter, Kolkata Knight Riders prevailed to pull off a crucial victory over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens on Sunday (April 21).
KKR set a challenging score of 222 runs batting first. Phil Salt got KKR off to a flying start. Contributions from Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh, with Salt scoring 48 off 14 balls, boosted their innings. Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh also played crucial roles in building the total. Captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the ship with a well-made fifty.

RCB's chase saw Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis getting starts but losing their wickets early. Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar then took charge, mounting a formidable partnership that threatened KKR's defence. However, both batsmen were dismissed at pivotal moments in the match.
Andre Russell's double strike in an over swung momentum towards the home team. Sunil Narine also bagged two wickets in quick succession. Despite these setbacks, RCB kept up their scoring rate. Dinesh Karthik and Prabhudessai brought the team close to victory, but it was Karn Sharma who took them agonizingly close. He hit three sixes of Starc in the last over with 21 to get but RCB fell short by just one run in a nail-biting finish.
