KKR vs RCB: Will Rain Washout IPL 2025 Opening Match In Kolkata?- Weather Forecast

KKR vs RCB: The excitement is building as the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 22, with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens.

The iconic venue will once again witness a battle between two franchises that share a historic connection, having contested the very first IPL match back in 2008.

KKR vs RCB

This season brings a fresh twist to the rivalry as Rajat Patidar takes charge of RCB, stepping into the leadership role for the first time. Meanwhile, KKR will be led by experienced campaigner Ajinkya Rahane, who returns to captaincy duties, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the clash.

Apart from the match itself, fans are eager to witness the glitzy opening ceremony. The event will feature mesmerizing performances by celebrated singer Shreya Ghoshal and Bollywood star Disha Patani. The vibrant blend of music and entertainment promises to set the tone for another electrifying season of IPL cricket.

Weather Forecast

However, the festivities could be dampened by inclement weather. According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, thunderstorms are forecasted across West Bengal, including Kolkata, in the days leading up to the match. With unpredictable weather conditions, fans and organizers will be keeping a close eye on the skies, hoping for a reprieve that allows the eagerly awaited fixture to proceed without interruption.

As per Accuweather, Kolkata is expected to experience a high probability of rain and thunderstorms on the evening of March 22. The forecast indicates a 90% chance of rain, likely lasting for approximately two hours, with a 54% likelihood of thunderstorms.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued warnings of lightning, rain, and thunderstorms, attributing the adverse weather to an anticyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. With the IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony scheduled to commence at 6 PM, spectators and organizers will be closely monitoring the weather conditions, hoping for a window of clear skies to kick off the tournament in style.

As cricket enthusiasts count down the hours to the season opener, all eyes will remain on the weather updates. Whether the rain relents or not, the spirit of the IPL is sure to shine through, keeping fans engaged and excited for the action ahead.
