KKR vs RR: In a heart-stopping finish at Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders edged out Rajasthan Royals by just one run in the 53rd match of IPL 2025 on Sunday.
Defending a daunting 206, it all came down to the final delivery, but the turning point of the match arrived much earlier - with the dismissal of Rajasthan skipper Riyan Parag.

Opting to bat first, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a flying start through Rahmanullah Gurbaz (35 off 25) and Sunil Narine (11 off 9). Ajinkya Rahane (30) and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44) steadied the innings before Andre Russell launched a blistering late assault.
The West Indian powerhouse remained unbeaten on 57 off just 25 balls, smashing 6 sixes and taking KKR to a towering 206/4. Rinku Singh added a handy 19* in the death overs.
Rajasthan's bowlers toiled hard, with Jofra Archer keeping things tight at 1/30. Riyan Parag and Maheesh Theekshana claimed a wicket apiece, but it wasn't enough to contain the KKR onslaught.
Rajasthan Royals were rocked early, losing both openers - Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Kunal Singh Rathore - inside the first two overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal looked promising with a brisk 34, but the spotlight quickly shifted to skipper Riyan Parag.
Parag turned the game on its head with a breathtaking counterattack. He smashed 95 off 45 balls, including a surreal stretch of six sixes in six balls - five off Moeen Ali and one more off Varun Chakaravarthy - igniting serious hopes of a dramatic comeback.
However, just as Rajasthan seemed poised to take control, Harshit Rana removed the dangerous Parag in the 18th over. That dismissal proved to be the pivotal moment, draining momentum from RR's chase.
Hetmyer (29 off 23) and Shubham Dubey (25* off 14) kept the Royals in the hunt, specially the latter almost took the game away from Kolkata and with three runs needed off the final ball, it was anyone's game. But a direct throw from Rinku Singh helped Vaibhav Arora to run out Jofra Archer at the non-striker's end, sealing a dramatic win for KKR.
