Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (May 21).
Shreyas Iyer-led KKR qualified for the playoffs as the table-toppers, but head into the crucial contest with no real match practice as their final two league stage matches were abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.

Pat Cummins’ SRH, on the other hand, booked their playoff berth as the second-placed side and come into the Qualifier 1 with winning momentum following a 4-wicket victory over in their most recent outing in IPL 2024.
However, KKR will be confident taking on SRH, whom they defeated by 4 runs earlier this season. The Kolakta-based side also carry a brilliant overall record against the Hyderabad-based outfit heading into their 27th meeting in IPL. Here is a look at the head to head numbers.
In the 26 SRH vs KKR head to head meetings in IPL, it’s KKR, who has the advantage with 17 wins against SRH, who have won 9 such encounters. In the last 5 meetings also, it’s 3-2 in favour of KKR.
In the only meeting earlier this season, KKR rode on Phil Salt and Andre Russell fifties to post 208, which was almost chased down by SRH, but Heinrich Klaasen’s fifty went in vain as Harshit Rana’s final over heroics helped seal the match in the home team’s favour at the Eden Gardens.
As for form, KKR are undefeated in the last 4, while SRH has won the last two matches by chasing down scores. Overall, KKR won 9 of 14 matches with 2 no results for 20 points, while SRH won 8 of 14 with 1 no result for 17 points.
